Kristen leads ERS’ strategic school design practice area, working with schools and districts to organize school budgets, staffing plans, and schedules to support student achievement. Kristen’s work with partner districts has also focused on broader resource mapping, analyzing district data to determine key levers for transforming resource use. Kristen is currently working with the D.C. public schools, as well as other projects across ERS.
Prior to joining ERS in August of 2010, Kristen worked in Chicago Public Schools’ Office of Research, Evaluation, and Accountability, first as a Project Manager, and later as the Director of Accountability. In these roles, she managed the District’s implementation of No Child Left Behind’s school accountability provisions and led the development of a new School Performance Policy, and Student and Parent Surveys. Kristen also taught seventh grade in Chicago Public Schools as a Teach for America Corps Member. While in graduate school, she worked for Lighthouse Academies, a Charter Management Organization, designing an organizational strategy to support strong data practices in schools.
Kristen loves almost anything related to the outdoors, from road biking to running to hiking, including a recent trip to Patagonia where she and her husband hiked in Torres del Paine National Park. Kristen loves reading, and while she enjoys the classics and otherwise intellectual reads, she is also an avid fan of Twilight and The Hunger Games! Additionally, she is fond of spending time with friends and family, and aspires to be the favorite aunt of her six nieces and nephews.
