Syracuse City School District

District Partner 2010

In January 2010 ERS partnered with the Say Yes to Education Foundation to examine current resource use and identify ways it can reallocate funds to support the district’s priorities.

"Our partner districts show us what's really happening on the ground—the data reveal where resources are going and our relationships with district leadership teams refines our best thinking about solutions."

Work Focus

  • Complete a resource map to understand how the district is using its people, time, and money.
  • Provide an benchmark comparison to similar districts (including districts within New York State).
  • Review “Say Yes” spending components to test budget assumptions and consider alternative ways of providing services by leveraging existing spending and resources.

Findings and Outcomes

Analysis to be completed by January 2011.

The Say Yes to Education Foundation is supporting ERS work in Syracuse. Say Yes is a national, non-profit education foundation committed to dramatically increasing high school and college graduation rates for our nation’s inner-city youth. Say Yes focuses on providing services to at-risk students and their families that address the key obstacles that have historically prevented students from reaching their highest potential. These services include academic, health, financial, and social programming. Part of ERS’ work will help the district identify opportunities to reallocate resources to sustainably support the Say Yes program.
